THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA
The city of Santa Clarita was incorporated December 15, 1987 with a population of 147,228 and a land area of 40 square miles, making the largest incorporation in the history of the state. The City is comprised of the following communities:

VALENCIA
This master-planned community was developed by The Newhall Land & Farming Company. The area is linked by a Spanish-style paseo system that provides easy access between homes, schools, parks and shops.Canyon Country, CA

CANYON COUNTRY
With more than 30,000 residents, Canyon Country is the most populous community in the City of Santa Clarita. It has an industrial hub, several neighborhood shopping plazas, and residents who enjoy plenty of open spaces.

NEWHALL
Today's Valley can trace its origins to this community, which took hold in 1876 along a key rail line, becoming home to miners and oil workers. A Main Street in Old Town Newhallrough Old West town back then, Newhall today is an elegant residential area with hundreds of shops and restaurants-along with The Master's College, the Disney Movie Ranch, Gene Autry's Melody Ranch, a park and nature center, and silent film star William S. Hart's former ranch, now a museum drawing thousands of visitors annually.

SAUGUS
(Named for Saugus, Massachusetts, the birthplace of Henry Mayo

This community owes its existence to the Southern Pacific Railroad Line and is still the home of an original station. New residential centers, established neighborhoods, commercial and retail centers create a self-sufficient community. 

STEVENSON RANCH
This is a large 4000 acre master-planned community on our city's West side of the 5 freeway. The Valencia Marketplace and Stevenson Ranch Shopping Center are the newest highlight of this fast growing and desirable community.

NORTHBRIDGE/NORTHPARK
The Northern extension of Valencia is considered one of our city's most beautifully planned communities. The unique paseo system, wonderful schools, and convenient shopping makes this neighborhood complete.

BRIDGEPORT
A lake village that includes a 15-acre lake, 7000 square foot Lake Club, elementary school, parks and playing field, paseos and river trails. Features Cape Cod architecture.

SURROUNDING VALLEY COMMUNITIES

AGUA DULCE
With a name meaning "sweet water" in Spanish, Agua Dulce is the site of Vasquez Rocks County Park, where countless film and television companies have shot everything from westerns to Star Trek episodes. This town has retained a true rural atmosphere. it is an equestrian community with many unpaved roads, large acreage homes, and working ranches. It also has a small public airport.

CASTAIC
Thanks to its large, scenic lake, Castaic is the Valley's major recreation area, popular for swimming, sailing, fishing, boating and water-skiing. This lake is also the terminus for the California Water Project. Because of its proximity to the San Joaquin Valley, this community is also a connecting point in the North-South trucking network.

VAL VERDE
Small and thriving, Val Verde boasts its own park, clubhouse, tennis courts and Olympic size swimming pool. It is a historical resort surrounded by hills, and has sustained its rural ambience.
